Pictures of SD40s

The SD40 series was built between January of 1966 and July of 1972, weighs 368,000 lbs and uses a 645E3 16 cylinder diesel prime mover that develops 3000 hp, and 92,000 lb of tractive effort, and carries 4000 gallons of fuel. My thanks to The Diesel Shop for the information.

Here you can find pictures of EMD SD40 model engines. I consider SD40-2s, SD40m-2s, and SD40-3s to be sub classes of the SD40 model.
